We’re getting down to the crunch!!! We are only one week away from the Family Fun Weekend and Grand River Amazing Race

The location is the West Montrose Family Campground 6344 Line 86, West Montrose, ON, Canada, N0B 2V0

The main fundraiser is the Grand River Amazing Race. All proceeds for this event go to Womens Crisis Services of Waterloo Region (Anselma House). Up to this point the registered teams have raised almost $10,000 in pledges. There has been alot of work put into creating this event and it is going to be fantastic. We are expecting a really good turnout for the race itself as well as the all the other activities that are planned for the whole weekend.

The Family Fun Weekend starts Friday and goes through to Saturday. The Race will take place on Saturday. Other weekend activities include

• Game Asylum – http://www.gameasylum.org
• Fun Casino
• Silent Aution
• Carnival
• Karaoke
• Movie under the stars
• Live entertainment on main stage
• Crown and Anchor wheel

Admission is free and is open to the public.

As some of you know, Melanie and I are members of the Woolwich Kin club. This year we are putting on an amazing event in support of Womens Crisis Services. This event will take place on July 23, 2011. If you are a fan of the Amazing Race then this event will definitely be for you. You can also spend the whole weekend camping if you like. There will be many other activities as well. The event will take place at the West Montrose Family Camp. Elmira native and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell  (Wikipedia) is coming  home for a pair of fundraisers to support the Woolwich Councelling Centre . WCC an agency that serves the Woolwich, Wellesley and surrounding areas.

I’m a writer for the New Yorker magazine, and the author of two books, “The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference” and “Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking.” I was born in England, and raised in southwestern Ontario in Canada. Now I live in New York City.

My great claim to fame is that I’m from the town where they invented the BlackBerry. My family also believes (with some justification) that we are distantly related to Colin Powell. I invite you to look closely at the photograph above and draw your own conclusions.
