We’re getting down to the crunch!!! We are only one week away from the Family Fun Weekend and Grand River Amazing Race

The location is the West Montrose Family Campground 6344 Line 86, West Montrose, ON, Canada, N0B 2V0

The main fundraiser is the Grand River Amazing Race. All proceeds for this event go to Womens Crisis Services of Waterloo Region (Anselma House). Up to this point the registered teams have raised almost $10,000 in pledges. There has been alot of work put into creating this event and it is going to be fantastic. We are expecting a really good turnout for the race itself as well as the all the other activities that are planned for the whole weekend.

The Family Fun Weekend starts Friday and goes through to Saturday. The Race will take place on Saturday. Other weekend activities include

• Carnival
• Karaoke
• Movie under the stars
• Live entertainment on main stage
• Crown and Anchor wheel

Admission is free and is open to the public.

If you are looking for something to do this weekend then look no further then Ribfest/Craft Beer Show at Victoria Park in downtown Kitchener and the Waterloo Jazz festivall at uptown Waterloo.

From what I hear, this year there will be about 7 different ribbers. So make sure you come with a big appetite. If you pace yourself then you can try all of them. I believe a rack of ribs will cost about $20-$22. If ribs are not your thing, there are many other types of food to eat as well. Admission is free which is really cool because normally you have to pay an admission when you go to these ribfest events. Although admission is free to Kitchener Ribfest, donations to the K-W Food Bank will be accepted. In addition, the midway will be returning this year. Looks like there will be live entertainment all three days. I drove by Victoria Park tonight and noticed that they were setting up so it should be a really good event. The weather is also suppose to cooperate with the sun continuing on through the weekend. I recommend that you bring a lawn chair just in case there is no seating. Keep it in your car if there is lots of seating.

If you are in Waterloo then you can check out the Waterloo Jazz festival. It looks like there are about 15 performers this year. There will be two stages. The main stage will be at the Waterloo City Hall parking lot and the Satellite Stage will be at Waterloo Public Square. I am somewhat a newbie to Jazz music so I will checking out this event for the first time tomorrow.
